Objectives

To evaluate the effect of the application method on the immediate and 3-year resin-dentine bond strength (μTBS) and nanoleakage (NL) for 3 one-step self-etch adhesives (Adper Prompt L-Pop; Clearfil S3 Bond and Xeno III).

Methods

The occlusal enamel of 42 human molars were removed to expose a flat dentine surface. The adhesives were applied under inactive or active application. After light-curing (600 mW/cm2 for 10 s), composite buildups were constructed incrementally and sectioned to obtain bonded sticks (0.8 mm2) to be tested in tension immediately or after 3 years of water storage of water storage. For NL, 2 bonded sticks from each tooth at each time were coated with nail varnish, placed in silver nitrate and polished down with SiC paper. The μTBS data was submitted to a two-way repetead mesures ANOVA and Tukey's test for each adhesive (α = 0.05).

Results

The active application showed higher immediate and 3-year μTBS than the inactive application (p < 0.05). An increase in the silver nitrate deposition was seen for all conditions after 3 years; however this was more pronounced for all materials under inactive application (p < 0.05).

Conclusions

The active application improves the immediate bonding performance of the adhesive systems. Reductions of the bond strength were observed for all materials after 3 years, however reduced degradation rate was observed when the materials are applied actively in dentine.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of thermal cycling on shear bond strength to bovine dentine of four current adhesive systems. Forty bovine incisors were ground flat with #600-grit silicon carbide paper to obtain superficial coronal dentine surfaces. Three one-bottle (etch and rinse) adhesive systems (Single Bond, Bond 1, One Step), and one self-etching primer adhesive system (Clearfil Liner Bond 2V) were evaluated. Dentine was conditioned and bonded with the adhesive systems tested according to the manufacturers' instructions. A cylindrical teflon mould (3 x 4 mm) was placed over the bonded area (to eliminate the bonded surface) and filled with composite resin. For each adhesive system the filling composite used was from the same manufacturer. Ten specimens were prepared for each material and all specimens were conditioned at 37 degrees C for 24 h. Five specimens of each material (half of the specimens) were thermocycled at 5000 cycles (at 5, 37, 55 and 37 degrees C) with a dwell time of 15 s and bonds were stressed in shear at a rate of 0.5 mm min(-1) until failure. Data were analysed by one-way anova and Student-Newman-Keuls rank test (alpha=0.05). Statistical analysis revealed that thermal cycling significantly (P < 0.05) reduced the bond strengths of all adhesive systems. Bond strengths prior to thermocycling were not significantly different (P > 0.05), except for One Step which revealed the lowest bond strength, and varied from 22.5 +/- 3.34 to 10.98 +/-0.87 MPa. After thermal cycling, the bond strengths ranged from 9.35 +/- 1.13 to 6.06 +/- 1.77 MPa. Failures after testing and prior to thermal cycle were most commonly adhesive failures between the bonding resin and dentine associated with partial cohesive failures in the adhesive resin (type 2). Adhesive failures between bonding resin and dentin (type 1) after thermocycling were most commonly seen.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to compare the clinical performance over 1 year of a microhybrid composite resin for class V restorations both lined and not lined with a flowable composite resin. Nineteen patients having at least two pairs of cervical noncarious lesions under occlusion were enrolled in this study. A total of 38 restorations were placed, half for each group (Single-Bond + Filtek-Flow + Filtek Z250, and Single-Bond + Filtek Z250). Two calibrated operators placed all restorations according to the manufacturers instructions. Two other independent examiners evaluated the restorations at baseline and after a 12-month period according to the USPHS criteria and modified criteria for color match. The classic alpha score was divided into A1 for not detectable and A2 for slightly discernible filling. Statistical analysis was conducted using Fishers exact test and McNemars test (P=0.05). One restoration was lost after 12 months for each group (retention rate 95% for each group). After 12 months, 18 restorations showed a trend towards dark yellowing (color match A2). The use of Filtek Flow as a liner under Filtek Z250 restorations did not improve the clinical performance of class V restorations after 6 and 12 months of evaluation.  相似文献

The ability of a restorative material to bond and seal the interface with tooth structure is perhaps the most significant factor in determining resistance to marginal caries. Thus, the quality and durability of marginal seal and bond strength are major considerations in the selection of restorative materials. The purpose of this study was to compare the bond strength and marginal discrepancies of five adhesive systems: All-Bond 2, Clearfil Liner Bond, KB 200, ProBond and AELITE Bond. Twenty-five buccal and 25 lingual cavities were prepared in 25 caries-free extracted molar teeth, giving 10 cavities for each of the 5 adhesive systems. All teeth were restored with the resin composite Pertac Hybrid, or PRISMA Total Performance Hybrid with their appropriate adhesive systems. After restoration, the teeth were thermocycled, were stained with a 1.5% aqueous solution of a procion dye (reactive orange 14) and sectioned coronally with a saw microtome. Three sections of 200 μm thickness were prepared from each restoration which were then examined microscopically to measure marginal gap widths using a confocal tandem microscope. Shear bond strength measurements were carried out on the dentine bond using a universal testing machine. The All-Bond 2 adhesive system was found to have higher shear bond strength and to have the least gap with at the cementodentinal margin.  相似文献

OBJECTIVES: This study evaluated the effect of a warm or cold air-dry stream for solvent evaporation on the microtensile resin-dentin bond strength (muTBS), nanoleakage pattern (SEM), degree of conversion (DC) and solvent evaporation rates (SE) of an ethanol/water- (Adper Single Bond, [SB] 3MESPE) and an acetone-based (Prime & Bond 2.1, [PB] Dentsply), two-step etch-and-rinse adhesive system. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Adhesives were applied on demineralized dentin surfaces. For SE, a warm or cold air-dry stream (10 s) was applied prior to light-activation (10 s). Bonded sticks (0.8mm2) were tested in tension (0.5 mm/min). Two bonded sticks from each tooth were immersed in a 50% (w/v) solution of silver nitrate (24 h), photodeveloped (8 h) and analyzed by SEM. The DC and solvent evaporation rate of the adhesives were evaluated under FTIR and analytical balance, respectively. Data were analyzed by two-way ANOVA and Tukey test (alpha=0.05). RESULTS: Higher muTBS and lower nanoleakage were observed when the SE step was performed with warm air-dry stream. However, the DC of the adhesives was not altered by the use of a warm air-dry. CONCLUSIONS: The use of a warm air-dry stream seems to be a clinical tool to improve the bond strength and the quality of the hybrid layer (less nanoleakage infiltration), since it might reduce the number of pores within the adhesive layer.  相似文献

BackgroundThe objective of this study was to compare dentists’ perceptions of gloss values of composite specimens with increased levels and to identify the gloss value considered to be clinically acceptable.MethodsDisk-shaped composite specimens were finished and polished 3 ways: metallurgically using silicon carbide papers and alumina paste, manually using Enhance finisher and PoGo polisher (EP) (Dentsply Sirona), and manually using Sof-Lex (SLex) disks (3M). Specimens were produced with surface gloss ranging from 0 through 100 gloss units (GU) in increments of approximately 10 GU as measured with a glossmeter. A GU of 0 was nonglossy, and a GU of 100 was perfectly glossy. Ten dentists evaluated the specimens, ranking them in order from low to high gloss and in 4 groups: low (dull or rough), medium (moderate gloss, clinically unacceptable), high (glossy, clinically acceptable), and superior gloss. The authors performed Spearman correlation analysis (α = 0.05).ResultsFor each finish and polish method, there was an excellent correlation between the machine-measured (actual) gloss ranks and the clinician-evaluated gloss ranks (r2 ≥ 0.95). There was no difference in perception of surface gloss of the composite when metallurgically polished (with silicon carbide papers and alumina paste) or polished with EP to the same GU. There was a slight difference in gloss perception when comparing the 2 different commercial polishing systems.ConclusionsTen dentists consistently perceived gloss of 40 through 50 GU as clinically acceptable. However, the composite was considered clinically acceptable at a lower gloss (40 GU) when polished with SLex disks than when polished with EP or metallurgically (50 GU).Practical ImplicationsGloss values of 40 through 50 GU are considered to be clinically acceptable for resin composites.  相似文献

AIM: To assess the effectiveness of magnification and dentine removal (troughing) when locating the second mesiobuccal canal in mesiobuccal roots of maxillary molars. METHODOLOGY: A total of 208 extracted human maxillary molars were examined. After crown and pulp removal, the MB1 and 2 canals in the mesiobuccal root were located in three stages that were performed by two undergraduate dental students. Stage 1: canals were located with an endodontic explorer; stage 2: additional canals in the same teeth were located under magnification with a digital microscope (VH-8000, Keyence, Japan); stage 3: additional canals in the same teeth were located by removing dentine (troughing) from the pulp chamber floor within 3 mm from MB1 canal towards the palatal canal with an Enac ultrasonic tip (ST 21, Osada, Japan). In each group, the canals were prepared with Gates Glidden burs and K-files. The distal and palatal roots were then removed, and Indian ink was injected into the canal system within the mesio-buccal root. The root surfaces were washed with 6% NaOCl, and then rendered transparent to observe canal morphology. The root canal configurations were classified into five categories following the modified Weine's classification. RESULTS: More than one canal in the mesio-buccal root was observed in 48% of specimens. Detection rates of multiple canals were 7, 18 and 42% following stages 1, 2 and 3, respectively. There was a significant difference between the stages for detecting the MB2 canal (P < 0.05, Friedman test). CONCLUSIONS: Both magnification (stage 2) and dentine removal under magnification (stage 3) were effective in detecting the presence of the MB2 canal. However, MB2 canals could not be detected in 13% of the teeth because of canal calcification or branching located more apically.  相似文献

Introduction

This study evaluated the expression of matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2) in primary cultures of human pulp fibroblasts (HPFs) when exposed to extracts from dentin-bonding systems.

Methods

Polymerized resin disks of the bonding agent of a 2-step self-etch adhesive (TechBond, Isasan, Rovello Porro, Italy) or of the primer/bonding agent a 2-step etch-and-rinse adhesive (Optibond Solo; Sybron-Kerr, Orange, CA) were immersed in HPF culture medium for 24 or 96 hours. HPFs were incubated in the adhesive-conditioned or control (untreated) culture medium for 24 hours. Western blot and immunofluorescence analyses were performed to assay MMP-2 expression.

Results

MMP-2 expression levels in HPFs cultured for 24 hours in culture medium were similar in both the control and experimental media groups showing a faint band at 67 kDa. Conversely, the HPFs incubated in the medium that contain polymerized resin disks for 96 hours showed increased MMP-2 expression compared with the untreated medium. The self-etch adhesive displayed the most pronounced induction of MMP-2 expression. These findings were confirmed by immunofluorescence analysis.

Conclusions

HPFs display increased MMP-2 expression after 96 hours of conditioning of the HPF culture medium with polymerized disks of dentin bonding systems. This MMP-2 expression/activation may represent a defence mechanism exhibited by HPFs towards monomers eluted from the dentin bonding systems.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: This report describes a novel technique for fabricating retrievable implant-supported titanium (Ti) prostheses in patients requiring a comprehensive treatment plan involving the combined efforts of maxillofacial surgery and implant prosthodontics. METHODS: Following bone graft reconstructive surgery and implant placement prosthetic treatment was initiated by inserting ITI-Octa abutments. An impression was made, and a framework was fabricated by fusing Ti-cast frameworks to prefabricated titanium copings by laser-welding. This was followed by veneering or fabrication of a removable denture with Ti metal re-enforcement. RESULTS: Favourable clinical results have been achieved using these screw-retained Ti implant-supported restorations for patients treated with reconstructive bone graft-surgery, with clinical observation periods ranging from three to four years. CONCLUSIONS: The present observations suggest that these screw-retained implant-supported Ti prostheses may be a meaningful contribution to implant prosthodontics, facilitating retrievable restorations of optimum biocompatibility, good marginal precision and with a good esthetic result. However, controlled clinical studies are needed to establish the long-term serviceability of these Ti restorations.  相似文献

Clinical data indicate different medium and long‐term outcomes of endosseous implants for different implant configurations and in particular implant surfaces. The present study compares 2 very similar implant systems but with different surface characteristics in a split‐mouth‐randomized design. The Astra‐Tech (A) system (Astra‐Tech AB, Mölndal, Sweden) consisted of selftapping TiO2‐blasted screw‐shaped implants made of commercially pure titanium, and the Brånemark (B) System (Nobel Biocare, Gothenburg, Sweden) comprised selftapping Mark II implants with machined surface irregularities. Throughout the 2‐years' observation period, no significant differences could be found concerning probing depths, presence of plaque or change in marginal bone level. A statistically significant difference in location of the marginal bone level in relation to the shoulder of the implant was found in favor of the A system both at baseline and after 2 years. Cumulative success rates of 100% (A) and 97.7% (B) were not statistically different. From a prosthetic point of view, more soldering points were needed for A compared to B to reach clinical acceptable fit. More years of observation are needed to compare the fate of the soft and hard tissues surrounding two different implant surfaces.  相似文献
